Pristine Ferrari F40 Sold

There are many ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunities, and Silicon Valley Auto Group has just sold one of these this past Wednesday. A 1992 Ferrari F40 Supercar in Rosso Corsa with Rosso interior. This excellent example had 158 miles, one owner, all major services, documents, and kept in a time bubble for practically its entire existence.

A bit more about this Ferrari F40: The F40 was the last car introduced and commissioned by Enzo Ferrari himself. Its introduction and its name coincided with Ferrari’s 40th anniversary as an automobile constructor. The car was a celebration of the marque and man seeking to safely provide owners with a racecar for the street, embodying all the finest elements of modern automotive engineering. The F40’s body is comprised almost entirely of composite materials, mostly a weave of carbon fiber, Kevlar, and Nomex. The car was available in one color - Rosso Corsa - and the composite body panels were left unfinished in many areas, such as inside the doors, the cabin floor, and the door sills. Through effective design, Pininfarina ensured the F40’s body was made of only 11 main panels. The main chassis is made from the oval-section tubular steel common to Ferrari cars of the time. The F40’s heart was its engine, a 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged alloy V8 producing an astonishing 478 bhp at 7000 (163 bhp/liter) rpm and 424 lb-ft of torque at 4500 rpm. This amazing power plant consists of: dual overhead cams controlling four valves per cylinder, a dry sump lubrication system, separate electronic ignition and fuel injection systems for each bank of cylinders, and a Weber-Marelli engine control system. The F40 rockets from 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds en route to a top speed of 201 mph. From a standing start the F40 can cover a 1/4 mile in 11.7 seconds @ 127 mph.

Silicon Valley Auto Group was asking a smooth $795,000 for this exquisite vehicle.
