$50,000 Powerball Payout Surprises Union Resident
As a regular Missouri Lottery Powerball, Mega Millions and Scratchers player, purchasing Powerball tickets for one of the Draw Game’s largest jackpots was just an added bonus for Dean Kissinger.
“If I have an extra $5 or $10 in my pocket, I’ll stop in for some tickets,” said the Union resident, who purchased his Powerball tickets for the Aug. 9 drawing, worth $307 million, at North Side Quick Stop, 820 N. Washington Ave., in Union.
Ten days passed before Kissinger remembered his tickets were in his glove box needing to be checked.
“I was on my way home from work on Saturday (Aug. 19) and stopped in to check them on the machine,” recalled Kissinger. “The machine said something like ‘Check (Claim) at Lottery.’
“I went back to my truck, got out my phone and started adding the numbers that I had matched. I couldn’t believe it.”
Kissinger’s Quick Pick ticket matched four white-ball numbers and the Powerball number for the Aug. 9 drawing, which were: 12, 30, 36, 47 and 62 with a Powerball of 9.
While claiming his prize at the Lottery’s St. Louis regional office on Aug. 22, the Union resident said the experience was still surreal, and that he wasn’t sure how he would spend the prize.
Powerball is a $2 per play multi-state Draw Game that features jackpots starting at $40 million. Powerball drawings are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m. Research all current and past winning numbers at MOLottery.com.
